URBANA, Ohio --
A total of 39 Urbana University student-athletes have been inducted to the 2018-19 Chi Alpha Sigma (CAS) National College Athlete Honor Society, UU Executive Director of Athletics Larry Cox announced on Wednesday.

Urbana is one of 13 CAS institutions in the state of Ohio with the goal of recognizing high academic achievers and sport letterwinners at the collegiate level. CAS also encourages good citizenship, moral character, and friendship among the high academic achievers in college athletics.

In order to receive membership, student-athletes must fulfill a host of requirements. These include earning a letter in a varsity intercollegiate sport while achieving at least junior academic standing. In addition, the major requirement necessary for the prestigious honor is a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.

The 39 inductees from Urbana University represent 14 of the school's 16 active athletic programs. Women's soccer features the highest total with six honorees. The next highest total is men's soccer with five and women's basketball with four.
